Note carefully: we have a working group meeting this sunday. Our working groups are very small right now and we’d like to encourage more people to participate. Here’s the breakdown on the new group definitions:
Non-profit
This group will deal with all the paperwork and proceedings of becoming a 501c3. Most likely this will just be an extension of the bylaws group, but those tired of bureaucratic monotony may exit and new people can jump in.
Grants
Well, we need to get some money for our endeavors and this is weapon #1 in the two prong attack. Writing grants, researching them, blah blah….very important group!
Budget
For those interested in working with the business plan we supposedly have (still needs a followup), we need to come up with a framework of whats possible in the spending and earning arena. Most likely this WG will also be an intermediary between the grants group and the community fundraising efforts of community relations.
Community Relations
Also super important…building our connections to the community. This group will tackle a lot of things like throwing events that are fun(draising), building our public image, coordinating actions and service…but also (perhaps most importantly) the task is to make sure the Burning Book does not head down the well trodden path of being a paper-pushing life-sucking firstborn-child-eating internal enterprise that forgets the best and most important part of it all is making our beautiful community even prettier.
Communitech
Techies, trekies, and more… come one come all. We’re L337. W00t.
